Viz Uncovered: The Golden Record

 

The Golden Record - a 12-inch, gold plated phonograph disc, placed on the side of the Voyager 1 & 2 spacecraft.

This was the subject of my Tableau #IronViz competition feeder round entry; related to the round theme of "Music". Back in September I was invited to talk at the South West Tableau User Group and I chose this visualisation as the subject of my talk.  Sadly the talk was not recorded live, but feedback was fantastic, so I've decided to run through it again in the below video.

In this video I am going to go through my approach to the #IronViz competition the steps I took to create one of the main visual elements of the visualisation, explaining why I wanted to include it and how I approached creating them.
